"Both homage and deconstruction, "Marion" is a brief glimpse into the

nether zone of cinema, where images and identities merge and melt

apart, and nothing is as it first seems. It's like "Psycho" turned

inside out and stitched back together again, only with the seams

deliberately showing. A creepy little gem."

    -Mikita Brottman

Department of Language, Literature & Culture

    Maryland Institute College of Art

"This contemporary and elegant de-construction of Hitchcock's PSYCHO

provides students with an inspiring example of cinematic critique

through experimental film. Sophisticated, riveting and accessible,

MARION is the perfect teaching tool for classes that examine gender,

film history and contemporary video techniques. In my digital video

MARION works perfectly as a catalyst for classroom discussion and as a

    subject for student video assignments."

    -Rian Brown-Orso

    Professor of Video

    Oberlin College

"…Initially it feels like we're watching three identical versions

(albeit in tape delay on two) of the same scenario, then subtle and

then large-scale variations in the versions emerge … an engaging and

    moving short film." -Jon Lewis

    Editor, Cinema Journal

From award-winning filmmaker Ry Russo-Young (ORPHANS):

"MARION examines each choice that Marion Crane made in PSYCHO that leads to her premature and unconventional death less than half way through the film. If Marion had decided not to steal money from her boss would she have been able to escape the shower attack? MARION offers three variations on the PSYCHO narrative so that we may explore the larger concept of character and narrative conventions in cinema."
